Our core mission is to provide a happy and healthy life for our goats. That means that rather than shipping them for meat or euthanizing them when they are no longer viable milkers, we retain them and allow them to live out their days in comfort. We rely on donations to help support our nonproductive residents, most of whom are elderly or have physical limitations that prevent them from being members of our milking herd. We are forging relationships with licensed care providers who will soon offer goat-assisted therapy to their clients so that members of our community might benefit from the gentle, affirming presence of these beloved creatures. We hope to solicit donations that might cover yearly rations, veterinary care, and eventually a dedicated barn built with the express purpose of housing our retired animals.
It costs roughly $175 per month per goat to cover the cost of feed, bedding and medicine for each of our retired residents. This includes the cost of premium hay, carefully calibrated rations, supplements and medications as well as bedding that allows them to dwell in a clean, dry environment that’s easy on their feet and joints.
